Description of Tour
TWO-HOUR TOUR
A walk through the alleys of Cividale will take you back in time!
Beautifully situated near the Slovenian border and surrounded by rolling hills, Cividale del Friuli is a charming town with a rich history. The River Natisone flows through its center, spanned by the famous Devil’s Bridge.
Cividale also boasts fascinating museums:
-
The Archaeological Museum – with precious finds from the Longobard period
-
The Christian Museum – featuring an 8th-century altar and baptismal font, as well as relics and treasures of the Patriarchs
-
The Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle – home to the extraordinary Longobard Temple, once used by representatives of the Lombard king
The Christian Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; other sites are open throughout the week (please check opening times).
During this two-hour guided tour, we will focus on the town’s most significant Longobard monuments and highlights:
-
Piazza Paolo Diacono – the most beautiful square in Cividale
-
The Cathedral – with Renaissance features and treasures inside
-
The Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle – with the remarkable Longobard Temple
-
The Devil’s Bridge – with stunning views of the Natisone River
Please note: The entrance fee to the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle is not included in the tour price.
???? If you would like to add a visit to one of the museums (Archaeological or Christian Museum) along with the Monastery, please book the three-hour tour of Cividale.
